Water Leak Detection: Flow and Consumption Alarm
A water monitoring system can generate alerts that trigger an investigation when unexpected consumption or uninterrupted flow is detected. The flood sensor, which detects water on the floor with suspected leakage based on meter data, solves different problems. Neither of these alone proves that the entire pipeline is sound.

How to examine night base flow?
The time period during which the facility normally expects low consumption is selected. Since laundry, kitchen and pool filling may continue at night in hotels, expecting zero consumption will produce a false alarm. The continuity of the flow, previous similar days and section counters are evaluated together. Records from the same time period should be used.
Threshold, duration and alarm responsible
Instead of a high flow sample, time above threshold or exceeding a certain volume may be evaluated. A controlled exception is defined for planned filling and maintenance. To whom the warning will be sent, response time and field control procedure are recorded. If the last data time of the sensor is old, the normal consumption result should not be displayed.
Automatic valve closure is a separate project
Generating a warning and automatically closing the valve are not the same function. Fire, process or critical installation effects are evaluated in expert design. Valve position feedback, manual intervention and power failure behavior are determined. A leak alarm should not be connected randomly to a control valve.
Technical questions and answers
Does the system find the exact location of the leak?
Meter zoning can narrow the search area; exact location requires site inspection.
Is night consumption always illegal?
No. Planned business consumption and meter registration errors are also evaluated.
Can a flood sensor replace a meter?
No. One monitors water availability at a specific point, the other monitors line consumption.
Can the valve close automatically?
It is also designed with appropriate control and installation risk assessment.
