Monitoring and facility operation

What is a Cold Room Monitoring System? Sensor, Alarm

Cold room monitoring system; It helps the business monitor room conditions by recording data such as temperature, humidity within the project scope and door status. Measurement, alarm and historical records are handled together. The monitoring system is not the same as the system that directly controls the cooling device.

Difference between instant measurement and historical record

A single temperature value indicates only the moment of measurement. Historical charts allow examining the onset, duration and recurrence of change. Recording frequency, synchronization of clocks and what happens to the data when the connection is disconnected should be included in the scope of the project. Showing the last measurement on a screen does not prove that the device is still communicating; The last data time should also be visible.

Sensor selection and placement

Temperature sensors differ in measuring range, accuracy and interface. The number of sensors should not be decided without determining what condition the measurement will represent. Placements close to the door, air blowing point or product area may yield different results. Cable and mounting conditions are also evaluated during installation. The technical data of the sensor and the field measurement of the installed system should be checked separately.

How does the alarm become meaningful?

An alarm is not just a threshold exceeded message. It should also be defined which person the alert will reach, at what times it will be monitored, and how the loss of connection will be reported. Short changes and long-term deviations due to door opening can be handled differently in the evaluation of the business. Alarm delay and thresholds are determined by the product stored, operating procedure and expert judgment; No single temperature is recommended to be applied to all rooms.

Checklist before installation and upon delivery

The number of rooms, available control devices, targeted recordings, network access, and notification channels should be listed. Upon delivery, sensor names, last data time, alarm attempts and access to historical records are reviewed. Monitoring records support the business's evaluation; It does not alone verify the suitability of the product. The need for periodic control and calibration should be planned according to the devices used and the requirements of the business.

Technical questions and answers

Does temperature monitoring manage the cooling system?

Not always. Monitoring and control are different functions. It should be verified within the scope of the project and connection whether the device gives a command to the equipment or not.

Will the records be lost when the internet is disconnected?

It depends on the device and architecture. Support for local recording, data buffering and retransmission must be further verified in technical context.

How many sensors are needed?

A reliable number cannot be given without evaluating the room geometry, areas to be monitored, and measurement purpose.

Does an alarm mean that the products are damaged?

No. An alarm indicates a situation that requires investigation. Product evaluation is carried out in accordance with the relevant conditions and procedures of the responsible experts.
