Energy Monitoring System

Energy management in hotels and industrial facilities starts with seeing where and when consumption occurs. Fetrion WattDog; It is a hardware and software solution that brings analyzer and meter data together in a central monitoring structure.

Energy monitoring system system components

Divide energy consumption into measuring points

The total consumption at the main entrance alone does not explain which equipment or section is using energy. Panel and meter based monitoring; It is used to compare different areas of the facility, see consumption outside working hours and identify points to examine. At the beginning of the project, existing meters, measurement points and data collection intervals are evaluated together.

Data infrastructure for ISO 50001 studies

Regular energy records; energy performance indicators (EnPI) form the basis for reference consumption and periodic comparisons. Variables such as occupancy in hotels, production amount and working time in facilities may accompany the consumption interpretation. WattDog is a measurement and monitoring solution; It does not replace ISO 50001 certification.

Central monitoring and integration

In the WattDog solution, the multi-channel analyzer and smart meter infrastructure are evaluated with central management software. Data transfer via MQTT/HTTPS and cloud or local integration options are planned according to the project scope. Meter communication, network access and reporting expectations are clarified prior to installation.

Necessary information for your project

For bid evaluation, you can share the type of facility, the number of panels or meters to be monitored, existing meter models and the reports you want to see. This information makes it easier to determine the connection points to existing infrastructure and the hardware needed.

Verification of load profile and measurement data

Interpret kWh consumption and kW demand together

kWh represents the energy used in a certain period; kW refers to the power at the time of measurement. When the load profile and working hours are added to the consumption records, peak demand, idle operation and differences between shifts can be investigated. The demand period used in tariff and invoice evaluations should also be verified.

Data quality and business continuity

Counter rates, timestamp, unit of measurement and data gaps are included in the commissioning check. The need for local recording and retransmission in case of network outage is defined within the scope of the project. Accepting missing measurements as zero consumption may mislead performance evaluation.

Technical questions and answers

Does the energy monitoring system guarantee the amount of savings?

The monitoring system makes consumption visible. Savings depend on operational and equipment improvements implemented based on measurement results.

Can existing meters be used?

After examining the meter model, communication interface and data access, the scope of integration is determined.

What is the difference between an energy analyzer and an electricity meter?

The meter mostly measures cumulative energy consumption. The analyzer provides additional electrical quantities such as voltage, current, power factor and demand depending on the model. In WattDog integration, readable data points are verified with the technical documentation of the device.

Is just kWh data enough for ISO 50001?

Total kWh is the initial data. Interpreting energy performance requires appropriate EnPI, energy baseline and relevant variables such as generation, occupancy or operating time. The software supports the measurement and analysis side of the management system.

Will energy data be lost if the internet is disconnected?

This behavior depends on the selected meter, gateway and local storage architecture. Buffer recording time, timestamp, and post-connection retransmission requirements should be clarified in proposal and acceptance testing.

What is Energy Monitoring?

Energy monitoring system; It is a structure that records consumption data received from meters and analyzers, compares it over time and turns it into understandable reports. It goes beyond the total on the electric bill to show which section, piece of equipment, or period of operation needs to be examined.

Does the electricity bill and the monitoring system provide the same information?

Shows the invoice period total. Sub-measuring points and time-based recordings enable a more detailed analysis of where and when consumption occurs.

Is cloud connection mandatory?

It depends on the architecture. For local or cloud-based options, access, backup and disconnection behavior should be evaluated separately.
