What is the Integration of BMS and SCADA?
BMS is an approach to centrally monitoring and managing building systems. SCADA refers to the architecture used for process control and data collection. Displaying data on a screen and reliably executing the control loop in the field are different tasks.

Integration data map
Device address, register, data type, unit, scale and reading frequency are written in a common list. The temperature read and the temperature target that can be written are separate points. Commands allowed to write and operating limits are defined. Just because the protocol is the same does not mean that all device features are automatically compatible.
Alarm and event recording
Alarm occurrence, acceptance and return to normal times can be recorded separately. The order of importance and those responsible are determined; Constantly repeating unnecessary alerts may cause the business to miss critical alarms. In case of communication loss, the old value is not presented as the new measurement. Time mapping and user action records support reviewability.
Network and local control
Segmentation of the field network, remote access authorizations and backup plan are included in the scope. The local behavior of pumps and air conditioning equipment is determined when the central screen connection is lost. A controlled access architecture is evaluated instead of a control device directly open to the Internet.
Technical questions and answers
Is BMS the same as SCADA?
The areas of use may overlap, but the scopes of building management and process control are different.
Is Modbus enough?
The data map and command behavior must be mapped separately.
Can the last value be shown when the connection is lost?
Even if it is shown, it should be clear that it is old data and the last recording time.
Can every user operate the equipment?
Read and command privileges should be separated on a task basis.
